What’s a book you never finished but still think about?
For me, it’s The Clan of the Cave Bear. It was the first book in a trilogy, and I made it through that one.
But what I remember most isn’t just the story—it’s my mom and me.
We would read our books and then sit and talk about them with such excitement and joy.
We would get lost in the characters, the adventures, the places we had never seen. For a little while, we weren’t sitting in our everyday lives…we were somewhere else entirely. It was like opening a book and stepping through a little magical doorway into another world. ❤️
When my mom made her transition, something changed. I stopped finding the same joy in reading simply for pleasure. I think, in some ways, I missed having my favorite person to share the journey with.
But lately, I’ve been thinking about that girl who loved getting lost in a good book… and I think she may still be in there somewhere. 😊
I just haven’t found the book yet—the one that makes me forget the time, stay up a little too late, and whisper, “Just one more chapter.”
Maybe it’s time to turn the page again. 📖✨
And who knows…perhaps there’s a wonderful new world waiting for me between the pages.

Reading us a wonderful way to escape the world for a moment Donna, but sk us writing, as you must have found with your blog. But the great memories you have of reading with your mother might also make great stories written down to share with your own children one day.
my books were written as a diary of my family life to entertain my wife when she was ill. But they are being enjoyed by my grandchildren now.
Hugs

I agree not only reading the stories about one’s life but the ability to actually share the stories of days past is such a blessing. Thank you David for the words of memories and reading my life.
