What’s a promise you made to yourself that you’ve actually kept?
None… lol.
Why? Because it’s hard to explain how the promises we make as children grow into the promises we make as teenagers, and then become something completely different as adults.
Life happens. We learn. We get hurt. We grow. Sometimes we outgrow the very promises we once thought we’d never break.
When I think about it, I don’t know if I broke those promises as much as I became a different person. The little girl, the teenager, and the woman I am today all needed different things.
Maybe the promise I really kept was simply this: I never gave up on becoming a better me. It may not have happened the way I planned, but I’m still growing, still learning, and still becoming.
