What makes a good neighbor?
I reviewed this question earlier in the morning and couldn’t answer it then. I have noticed in today’s climate or state of the world I am lost for information on this subject.
I decided to look within on past memories of neighbors I grew up with to attempt to answer this question.
A good neighbor in days gone by would check on the elderly down the block, lend a hand when they saw it was needed, didn’t have to ask you for help because you were there before they could ask. A good neighbor traded skills “I will watch your children if you would cook me that great pot of chili”.
A good neighbor didn’t just live in your neighborhood they were everywhere each being what they knew was right, they were in the park watching you and your child be safe, they were on the side of the road when your tire was flat, they were there when you thought you were alone.
The spirt of good neighbor is not so visible now, they are elusive people who at this day and age are fearful to assist not knowing what the end result would be. Some still reach out to assist regardless of the outcome.
If you are one of the fairytale people “Good Neighbor”, I appreciate you and please continue the good work…..
Butterflies, fairies and cinnamon rolls….have a great day, if you see someone in need and you can assist…..a good neighbor could be you or me…….well it’s your call…In the end you will feel good.
